It is a substance extracted from rice bran oil. Its name derives from that of the rice plant, from which it was isolated for the first time. In reality it is also found in corn, barley, wholemeal flours, olives and various types of fruit. It appears as a mixture of ferulic acid, triterpene alcohols and sterols. It is recommended in phytotherapy as an analgesic, to reduce LDL cholesterol (the "bad" one), as an antioxidant, as a gastroprotector and to alleviate the symptoms of menopause.
